Dr Paul Ting-Yuan Cheng
Dr Paul Cheng is a New Zealand trained Specialist Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon. He will begin the Breast Academy Fellowship program in Feb 2024 to July 2024.
Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Dr Cheng moved to New Zealand at a young age.
He grew up in Auckland, and graduated from Macleans College with the ASB Scholarship and the Katherine Mansfield Trophy for the top scholar. He then obtained his primary medical degree from the University of Auckland, graduated with the
Senior Prize in Medicine.
After qualifying as a doctor in November 2008, he had worked in a variety of surgical specialties. He also had obtained further qualification of Post-Graduate Diploma in Surgical Anatomy from the University of Otago, graduated with the Distinction Award.
Dr Cheng went on to complete his specialist training in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, at various training units throughout New Zealand (Auckland, Wellington and Hamilton). He had received the Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2022. He had numerous publication in renowned medical journals, and he had been regularly involved in surgical education of junior colleagues - including being a RACS examiner for Part I Clinical Examinations since October 2023.
Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery is about principles and techniques. FRACS-qualified Plastic Surgeons are able to apply their skills to restore (or improve) tissues and reverse age related changes in a way that no other surgeon is trained. Dr Cheng is passionate and dedicated to be trained as a specialist Plastic Surgeon and offers this specialist skills to his patients.
Dr Cheng has been working as a specialist Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon at Waikato Hospital, Hamilton. He also provides specialist service in the private sector. He enjoys all aspects of plastic & reconstructive surgery, including skin cancer surgery / hand surgery / breast & body contouring surgery / burn & trauma reconstruction / microsurgery, etc. He is passionate in delivering the highest standard of care to his patients. Dr Cheng offers all his patients individualised, discreet, personal and high quality care, from the consultation through to the procedure and the after-care offered.
As of August 2023, Dr Cheng has undertaken a career break from New Zealand, to pursue further post-fellowship training from various internationally renowned experts in Australia / Taiwan.

DR MAXIM GEEROMS
Dr Maxim Geeroms, A Belgian Breast Academy Fellow Plastic Reconstructive and aesthetic surgeon from
November 2022 to November 2023

Dr Maxim Geeroms is a Belgium trained Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon, who has undertaken his training in Belgium, Luxembourg, Japan and Taiwan. He obtained his Master of Medicine degree (MD) magna cum laude at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Belgium. Afterwards, he completed his plastic surgery residency primarily at the Universitair Ziekenhuis Brussel in Belgium under the supervision of professor Moustapha Hamdi who is a world-renowned expert in aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery. During his 8-year training, he also worked in AZ Sint-Jan in Bruges, the Burn Centre in the Military Hospital in Brussels, Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg, and CHU Tivoli in La Louvière.
Between 2015 and 2017, Dr. Geeroms was a full time doctoral researcher in the Juntendo University in Tokyo. He conducted experimental scientific research in stem cell-based techniques for the improvement of fat grafting and vasculogenesis under the mentorship of professor Rica Tanaka. His research was published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Journal, and presented at conferences in Japan, USA, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Finland, South Korea and France. In 2020 Dr. Geeroms obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Medical Sciences after successfully defending his results.
Before coming to Gold Coast, Dr. Geeroms worked for one year in the prestigious Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan. Under the supervision of an eminent team of experienced microsurgeons led by professor Fu-Chan Wei, he could further enhance his skills in breast reconstruction, head and neck reconstruction, peripheral nerve surgery, and extremity reconstruction. He combined his clinical work with research, and obtained a Master of Science (MSc) in Reconstructive Microsurgery at Chang Gung University, after defending his thesis on perfusion dynamics and secondary debulking of reconstructive flaps.
Dr. Geeroms is certified by the Belgian board, and graduated as a fellow of the Collegium Chirurgicum Plasticum (CCP). He is currently a member of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). Dr. Geeroms is scientifically trained, dedicated to his work, and can guide you in English, Dutch and French.
DR ALBERTO KALACH
Dr Alberto Kalach, MED0002354191 ; Medical Practitioner, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgical Fellow at Breast Academy from February 2021 to March 2023.
Dr. Alberto J. Kalach is a Mexican board certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon. He completed his studies in Universidad Anahuac in Mexico City finishing in the top ten of his class.
Dr Kalach completed an Internship at the Jackson Memorial Hospital, University of Miami where he gained broad exposure and interest in complex post-oncological reconstructive surgery. He continued his General and Plastic Surgery Training in Mexico City, including an Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Residency in Clinica Planas, Barcelona and training under world renowned Bahman Guyuron, M.D. in Cleveland, OH.
Dr. Kalach is board certified by the Mexican Council of Aesthetic and Reconstructive Plastic Surgeons, and is an active member of the Mexican Plastic Surgery Society. He is also an International Candidate Member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Dr Kalach is passionate about aesthetic and post-oncological and skin cancer reconstructive procedures. He started his practice in the American British Cowdray Medical Center in Mexico City, mostly involved in aesthetic, breast reconstruction, and skin cancer treatment.
He's recently finalised a Fellowship at the prestigious Melanoma Institute Australia in Sydney and has since moved to the Gold Coast to complete a fellowship in reconstructive and plastic surgery. When he is not hard at work in our clinic, he enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 beautiful daughters, and is an avid runner.
DR fu-yu (Mike) yang
Dr Fu-Yu (Mike) Yang (MED0002416925)
Specialist Plastic and Reconstructive Surgical Fellow at Breast Academy from August 2020 to February 2021.
Dr Yang is a New Zealand-trained plastic and reconstructive surgeon. He was born in Taiwan, grew up in New Zealand and attended medical school at University of Auckland, where he was awarded the Novartis Prize for Therapeutics. After completing an elective in Africa he developed a passion for surgery, and was awarded the prize for Top Junior Registrar in Waikato Hospital, New Zealand in 2010. He underwent his plastic surgery training in Wellington, Auckland and Hamilton.
He received his Royal Australasian College of Surgeons fellowship in 2019 and has been working as a plastic surgery specialist in Hamilton, New Zealand, with a subspecialty interest in breast reconstruction and microsurgery. He plans to become the specialist coordinator of breast reconstructive service in Hamilton, and is looking forward to bringing the knowledge and skills he learns at Breast Academy back to New Zealand. He was awarded the prestigious Johnson & Johnson Aesthetic Essay prize in 2019 from the Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, beating out top candidates in Australia and New Zealand.
DR NIKKI PHILLIPS
Dr. Nikki Phillips, a recent graduate of the Harvard Plastic Surgery program, is delighted to be living and working on the Gold Coast. She completed her undergraduate studies at Brown University and obtained her medical degree from the prestigious University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
In her final year of training at Harvard, Dr. Phillips was selected to serve as the resident representative to the Harvard Plastic Surgery Executive Committee. She was also chosen as one of three nationwide resident ambassadors to the premiere Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery journal. She hosts monthly podcasts about plastic surgery featured on YouTube and in the Apple iTunes store. Prior to her career as a physician, Dr. Phillips was an actress and singer in New York City.
DR ALEXANDRU DANIEL HERNIC (DANIEL)
Dr Daniel Hernic is a plastic surgeon with the Romanian College of Physicians, in Bucharest. After having graduated magna cum laude from the “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, he accomplished his 5-year plastic surgery training in accredited centres from Bucharest, Paris, Luxembourg, Brussels, Montpellier, which allowed him to acquire extensive experience in both reconstructive and aesthetic procedures involving the breast, face, silhouette and upper limb.
During his residency he also was on an internship in the plastic surgery division, at the prestigious Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, in Taiwan, which is one of the world’s leading hospitals in the microsurgery field. Upon finishing his training, Daniel was granted a fellow position in the plastic and aesthetic surgery program at Akademikliniken, in Stockholm, one of Europe’s largest aesthetic private practices where he further expanded his knowledge and skill set with regard to aesthetic breast surgery.
Dr Daniel Hernic works as a plastic surgeon in his native country, in Kronstadt and Bucharest where his practice revolves around breast reconstruction and aesthetic procedures, facial aesthetics and skin cancer reconstruction and body contouring. He was in Australia on a 6 month plastic and reconstructive surgery fellowship with Breast Academy but unfortunately it was cut short due to Covid-19, with Daniel returning home to Romania.
Dr. Fanny Ballieux
Dr. Fanny Ballieux is a fully qualified Plastic Surgeon with the Royal Belgian College of Surgeons (RBSS) and the Royal Belgian Society for Plastic Surgery(RBSPS). In addition, she obtained the title of Fellows of the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (EBOPRAS).
She graduated magna cum laude with a degree of Physician from UCL Catholic University of Louvain, Faculty of Medicine, Brussels - Belgium.
Her internship and residency were accomplished in three different countries. Firstly in Belgium where she practiced 4 years under the guidance of Prof. Benoit Lengelé who performed, with Prof. Bernard Dechauvelle and Prof. Sylvie Testelin in Amiens - France, the first partial face allograft. Later she spent one year in Luxemburg (CHL) and one year in Westmead at The Children’s Hospital.
During her training, she has been highly involved in the Vascular Anomalies Center with Prof. L.M.Boon. Subsequently she published several publications and spoke at international conferences.
She had extensive experience in aesthetic facial surgery at the Clinique des Champs Elysées in Paris / France and trained in microsurgery in the National University Hospital (NUH) in Singapore.
dr Aline Wickert
Dr Aline Luise Wickert is a Brazilian Board certified Plastic Surgeon. She completed her studies in a competite Medical University in the South of Brazil (UFCSPA). She completed her residency in General Surgery and Plastic Surgery in Brazil. Along with her studies in Brazil she has participated in internships in USA at Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre Hospital in New York, at Columbia University Hospital in New York, at Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital in New York with Dr Sherrel Aston Md, who is known as one of the best plastic surgeons of New York city. She has also participated in a Fellowship in Facial Plastic Surgery in Vienna and visited a few of London's Hospitals as well.
dr Charalambos (harry) Georgiou
Prior to joining Breast Academy Gold Coast, Charalambos Georgiou was previously a Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic surgeon in France. He specialises in female genital surgery, body contouring, breast surgery and facial aesthetic surgery as well as aesthetic medicine with fillers and botox injections.
He has an extensive experience in reconstructive and aesthetic surgery after performing more than 2000 operations in the field. He worked in Nice’s University Hospitals and also in Marseilles’s University Hospital under the surveillance of Pr. Casanova, Pr. Lebreton and Pr. Dumontier.
He has several publications in peer reviewed journals and book chapters concerning reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. He shares regularly his experience in world congresses through many presentations and is actively involved in fundamental research in plastic surgery.
He is actively involved in breast surgery and is currently practicing at Esthetic Surgery Centre Bastia in Corse.
DR Dirck Ananos
Dr Dirck Ananos is a qualified specialist FRACS plastic surgeon (Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons).
He received his medical degree in Peru and completed his plastic surgery training in Perth, WA. Dr Dirck has undergone extensive international experience including elective rotations in Brazil, Spain and France. He has also had surgical experience in England, Northern Ireland and completed Fellowships in hand, plastic and reconstructive surgery in New Zealand, Argentina and Spain. During his time at Breast Academy Dr Dirck will be completing an ASAPs Fellowship (Australian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons)
DR KEVIN PETERS
Dr. Kevin Peters graduated from the Medical School of the University of Antwerp with highest honors. Subsequently he undertook two years of general surgical training at the AZ Sint-Jan Hospital in Bruges under Dr. B. Dillemans’ leadership.
He accomplished his four-year training to become a plastic surgeon at the University hospital of Ghent, under the direction of Prof. S. Monstrey and Prof. Ph. Blondeel. During this training, he focused mainly on reconstructive and aesthetic surgery of the breast.
After fulfilling his education he furthered his expertise while working with several renowned surgeons abroad.
He trained in aesthetic facial surgery under the lead of Dr. Barry Jones in London and Prof. Yixin Zhang in Shanghai.
Finally, he completed an additional training in breast surgery and cosmetic surgery with Breast Academy Gold Coast in Australia.
Dr. Kevin Peters works as a plastic surgeon at the Imelda Hospital in Bonheiden and the AZ Jan Portaels in Vilvoorde. He also holds private consultations at the Atlas Clinic in Meise.
dr LINCOLN SAITO MILlAN
Dr Lincoln Saito Millan graduated in Medicine at University of São Paulo Medical School (2005), General Surgery and Plastic Surgery Residency at Hospital das Clínicas, University of São Paulo Medical School (2011).
From March, 2012 until February 2017 Lincoln was a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Burn Unit of Public Servant Hospital - São Paulo.
From July, 2013 until February 2017 Lincoln was also a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at University of São Paulo. Cancer Institute – (Icesp).
dr OWEN OU YANG
Dr. Owen Ou Yang is a fully qualified Specialist Plastic Surgeon (MB BS, MS, BSc. Med, FRACS Plast) with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Australian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.
Dr. Ou Yang completed his medical degree at University of New South Wales in 2006. He completed his internship and residency in Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Westmead Hospital. He went on to pursue further studies and he was awarded a Master of Surgery in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 2009 for his work in paediatric craniofacial surgery and transplant microsurgery at the University of Sydney. Dr. Ou Yang was accepted in the national plastic surgery training program in 2011, following a year of general surgical training.
Dr Ou Yang became a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2016. He spent six months as the aesthetic surgery fellow at the Breast Academy on the Gold Coast. He has also awarded the prestigious scholarship with the Australian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.
Following the Gold Coast and with the aspiration to provide a full spectrum of reconstructive surgical care, he further undertook subspecialty fellowships in hand and wrist surgery in internationally renowned centres in Sydney and Melbourne.
Dr Saiidy Hasham
Dr Saiidy Hasham is a plastic surgeon (MB ChB MRCS FRCS Plast) having trained and graduated in the United Kingdom. He grew up in Somerset in the south-west of England before attending Leeds Medical School. He embarked early on a career in plastic surgery, taking a special interest in breast reconstruction. He completed his training in Nottingham, a leading centre of excellence for breast cancer surgery and microsurgical reconstruction. He continued to refine his microsurgical skills in this field by undertaking a fellowship in Bristol and working with pioneering surgeons in lower limb salvage and breast reconstruction. He became a member of the Royal College of Plastic Surgeons in September 2014 and belongs to the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons. He has returned back to Nottingham following his 12 months in Australia with the Breast Academy and is working in one of the busiest trauma centres in the country specialising in lower limb injuries.
DR THEO NYAME
Dr Theo Nyame commenced as the first fellow through our program here at Breast Academy and currently lives and practices plastic surgery in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA.
When Dr Theo Nyame was eight-years-old, his parents relocated their family to the Bronx, NY from his birthplace of Ghana, West Africa. Dr Nyame advanced through the academic ranks of his peers to the end up at the top of his classes. With undergraduate studies coming up, Dr. Nyame decided he was going to ultimately join the medical community and improve the value of life for patients all over the world. Dr. Nyame’s surgical focus became cosmetic surgery after realising the desperate need for reconstructive procedures back in his birth place of Ghana.
He attended Cornell University in New York during his undergraduate studies where he graduated top of his class before continuing on to Harvard Medical School in Massachusetts. Here, he completed his medical studies and plastic surgery training.
Ultimately, Dr. Nyame plans to return to Ghana to specialise in reconstructive procedures for those in need.
